Clear Truths
Because, if we can get ourselves out of the way, Scripture is just that clear

Holy Scripture clearly says:

1. Righteous works that we do cannot save us, but only God’s mercy in Jesus Christ (Titus 3:5–6);

2. Baptism now saves us (1 Peter 3:21);

therefore:

3. Baptism cannot be a work of Man, but must be God’s own work, through which He delivers His mercy to us (Titus 3:5), giving us a new birth (John 3:5), crucifying and burying us with Christ and raising us to new life in Him, so that we are dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:1–11).

It’s just that simple; those who try to make Baptism a matter of obedience or of our confession are inadvertently robbing God of His glory by their failure to see what the Bible clearly teaches: that Baptism is, instead, a matter of God giving us a gift. May we value Baptism as Holy Scripture does and rightly confess it as God’s gift to us, through which He grants us faith in what Jesus has done and all the benefits He secured for us by His life and death in our place!
